There has been a question I have been asking for a while now. It involves tipping and restaurants. I will also tip well when I go out to eat and sit at a restaurant. But, with so many restaurants offering carry-out, they now have a place to leave a tip. So, should you?
Food And Wine asked that question to the etiquette experts at the Emily Post Institute. They say there is “no obligation” to tip for take out.The institute does suggest you tip 10 percent for service above and beyond handing you the bag. Those examples include curbside pick-up when you don’t have to leave your car and “large, complicated orders.”
Do you tip at take out? How much?
