If you’re an Elton John fan, then surely you’re already well aware of the new biographical movie that’s coming out that’s coming about him called Rocketman. And if you weren’t aware of it, then you are now! Rocketman takes a look at Elton John’s first half of his luxurious career. Staring from his early prodigy years in London to the 70’s and 80’s where he really hit his fame. The movie also takes a look at John’s struggles with depression, substance abuse, and acceptance of his sexual orientation. Sound familiar to Bohemian Rhapsody maybe? There’s definitely a lot of similarities between the two, which makes this a must see for any Elton John fan, or any music fan for that matter. The main difference about Rocketman compared to Bohemian Rhapsody though, is that Rocketman is more of a “fantasy musical” as well as a biopic on John’s life. Another key difference? Taron Egerton who plays Elton John, actually recorded vocals for the songs that are used in the movie, unlike Bohemian Rhapsody which was all lip synced.
Rocketman boasts a solid cast, with Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle) playing Sir Elton John, Jamie Bell (King Kong, Fantastic Four) plays Bernie Taupin, and Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World series, Spider-Man 3, Twilight: Eclipse) plays Sheila Eileen. Here’s a list of full cast and crew. Elton John was even an executive producer for the film, so you know the movie will stay pretty authentic to what happened with him throughout his career.
