A Hearty Bowl of Soup Can Help Your Neighbors In Need During Operation Soupline

Get a great lunch, and help out a great cause at the same time. Doorstep’s 15th Annual Operation Soup Line is happening this week. This Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m volunteers will be setting up a mock soupline at the Kansas Expocentre’s Ag Hall. For just $10 you can enjoy a hearty bowl of chili, chicken tortilla or Portuguese Green Soup, Dessert and a  Drink… with proceeds going to Doorstep, Inc. Kids are welcome too, and it’s only $5 if they are 12 or under. Your workday buddy, Angie Stevens will be helping serve from 12:30 til one on Wednesday. There’s also entertainment and theme basket auctions. Not only can you head out and eat at the event itself, but you can do carry out until 2pm. You can even have them deliver if you have an order for 10 or more and pre-order before Monday February 26th! Come support Doorstep and enjoy a wonderful lunch!

Doorstep, Inc. alleviates the burden from other agencies, both social and governmental. Helping as one of three primary emergency assistance agencies, Doorstep clients come mostly from the east and central parts of Topeka. All three agencies are hooked together so they know what clients get what services and so they can spread scarce resources around.
Doorstep tends to fill in gaps for those families waiting for assistance. They have helped prevent eviction, feed kids, and get the elderly to a doctor’s office by helping pay for bus tickets or with gas vouchers. Doorstep also helps “cover the family” during the waiting period for services from the state.
