Last night (9/28/16), in a moment of inspired brilliance, David Gilmour brought Marvel’s Dr. Strange to the stage for a mystical rendition of Pink Floyd’s epic masterpiece.

Gilmour and company were playing the third of five concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall, concluding the Rattle That Lock European tour 2016.

As the song begins, chills run down the spine and are suddenly boosted from tingle to taser as the spotlight reveals Benedict Cumberbatch, with microphone in hand, taking the Roger Water’s role in Comfortably Numb.

It’s obviously a favorite of his, as The Batch nails the delivery, album-like. Admittedly, he seems nervous, and flubs a few lines, even though it looks like he’s got them on a monitor in front of him. But hey, who wouldn’t be nervous jumping on-stage for a one-off such as this? We’re sure it wasn’t rehearsed earlier, otherwise, there might be leaks because, well, The Internet.

I’m not sure if I’m seeing Dr. Strange, Smaug, or Sherlock here. Or maybe, just maybe… he’s rehearsing for a starring role as Pink in an as yet unplanned remake of The Wall? OH please let that be it, yeah?

Either way, kick back, make it full screen and crank up Benedict Cumberbatch singing Comfortably Numb with David Gilmour. Glorious.
